On Homeopathy

History

Homeopathy is a system laid down by the founder of homeopathy, Samuel Hahnemann, some 250 years ago.

It still works incredibly well today.

We now know, through quantum physics, that there are whole levels of energy and atomic activity occurring that we are unable to detect except for their effects on the known world.

Hahnemann was a true genius and seemed intuitively to appreciate and utilise this.

He also originated the practice of potentization of the substances we use for remedies.

How it works

The homeopath sits and listens to the patient's symptoms and medical history. Taking notes on their mental, emotional and physical states. This is called "taking the case".

After sifting through the resulting data the Homeopath's experience and study leads them to choose what they think is the most appropriate remedy.

It might be one pill, or a daily dose, or an hourly dose.

The correct remedy, depending on what is needed, can affect a change in a diseased state in our bodies, and help assist our body's own healing powers to correct itself and start getting better.

The same goes for animals and plants. In my practice I like to help not only people, but also their animal friends and plants in their gardens.

From pre conception, to birthing, early childhood and onwards towards old age and life's end, homeopathy has a place in our lives.

In homeopathy plants, animal parts or minerals are used to make the remedies (medicines).
This involves triturating (grinding with a mortar and pestle) with lactose or dissolving in alcohol the original substance and then diluting and succussing (vigorous shaking).  This then becomes the basis for potentisation which gives the remedies their dynamic, vibrational healing energy.

More in-depth information on Homeopathy

Homeopathy works on the principle of "like cures like". This means a substance that causes symptoms in a healthy person can cure those symptoms in a sick person. Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy, found when dosing himself with Cinchona Bark, he developed the symptoms of malaria. Cinchona (quinine) is used to treat malaria.

This process he named "proving" and went onto prove hundreds more remedies and their effects. This made up what homeopaths call The Clinical Repertory of Symptoms and The Homeopathic Materia Medica.

Potencies and usage

Remedies (homeopathic medicines) range in various potencies, that is the number given to indicate how many times a dilution process has been carried out and which scale of dilution was used. For example: Arnica 12x indicated that one in 10 dilution was carried out 12 times. The X is roman numeral for 10. The 12 indicates it was done 12 times.

An example is Arnica 30c, the c indicates 100 dilutions. So 1 in 100 dilution was carried out 30 times. The higher the potency number, the higher the energy produced from that remedy. But it is found, that the lower potencies are more suitable for physical complaints.

For Acute and First Aid prescribing it is best to use either 6c, 12c or 30c. If symptoms persist and don't finally get better, then it is best to consult with a trained homeopath.

Depending on intensity of an acute disease stare, or if the patient has a chronic problem i.e. something that recurs or they have had for several months and can't resolve, then a thorough case needs to be taken by the homeopath and different prescribing will be required.

Also there will be follow-up appointments made to ensure the remedy's action is proceeding in the right direction to procure a healing process, where possible.
